Research Travel Grants
AIM: These awards are designed to support summer research travel by Masters and PhD students with an active assistantship in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics and who are majoring in one of the following programs: East-Asian languages, French, German, Italian, Slavic and Spanish.
In order to be considered for this award, the applicant must also be conducting graduate research directed by faculty members in the Department of Modern Languages. The research travel must have as a goal to further the applicant’s research through activities such as accessing library or archival materials and /or conducting research interviews.
Awards cannot be taken up after graduation from FSU or in the semester in which the applicant expects to graduate. Awards will not be granted for study on programs which FSU prohibits or discourages its students from attending, e.g. on the grounds of U.S. State Department travel warnings; awards may be withdrawn at any time on the grounds of revised FSU advice or prohibition.
Awards are subject to the availability of funding and depends on the university guidance regarding funded travel.
Decisions are final.

AWARD AMOUNTS:
Awards of up to $1,500 may be made. Lower limits may be set if required by funding constraints.
REIMBURSEMENT:
The Winthrop-King will only reimburse the travel expenses approved by the University. Only travel expenses approved by the University will be reimbursed. Check the university travel guide. In order to be reimbursed for your travel, you must have an approved travel authorization in Concur prior to your travel.

- The Major Professor Approval and Assessment Form completed by your professor. There will be a location to upload the form while applying.
The professor can complete the Major Professor Approval and Assessment Form as follows:

- Send the completed for to your applicant.
Once you have the required information, please complete the Graduate Research Travel Award Application. All questions must be completed, unless specifically stated as optional. Dates can be in any format.
